Sewing Instructions:
Step 1:
Using a ruler and a rotary cutter, cut six Color E (cream) 9-3/8"
squares and two Color A (dk. blue) 9-3/8"
squares once diagonally.

Step 2:
With right sides together, layer a Color E (cream) Step 1 triangle on
a Color A (dk. blue) Step 1 triangle.
Stitch together using a 1/4"
seam. Press the seam allowance
toward the darker fabric and trim points.
Repeat three more times for a
total of four Color A/E half-square
triangles.

Step 3: Using
a ruler and a rotary cutter, cut the
Color C (green) 18-1/4" square
twice diagonally as shown below:

Step 4: With right sides together
and using a 1/4" seam allowance,
sew a Color E (cream) Step 1 triangle
to the right side of a Color C (green)
Step 3 triangle as shown below. Press
seam toward light fabric, trim points, and
repeat on the left side. Press
seam allowance toward the light fabric
and trim points. Repeat three
more times for a total of four Color
C/E flying geese units.

Step 5: Using
a ruler and rotary cutter, cut the two
Color D (yellow) 9-3/8" squares
once diagonally. Cut one Color
C (green) 9-3/4" square twice diagonally.
Cut one Color B (red) 9-3/4"
square twice diagonally.

Step
6:
With right sides together, sew a
Color B (red) Step 5 triangle to a Color
C (green) Step 5 triangle as shown below.
Press the seam allowance toward
the darker fabric and trim point. Repeat
three more times for a total of four
Color B/C triangles.

Step
7: With right sides together,
sew a step 6 Color B/C triangle to a
Step 5 Color D (yellow) triangle, as
shown below. Press the seam allowance
toward the Color D fabric and trim points.
Repeat three more times for a
total of four Color B/C/D units.

Step 8: Arrange
the Step 7 units as shown below and
sew into rows. Press the seam
allowances toward the Color D (yellow)
triangles. Sew the rows together
to finish the center pinwheel and press
seam allowance to one side.

Step 9: Using the block image at the top of
the page as your guide, arrange the nine block units. Sew them first into rows,
pressing the seams of the top and bottom rows toward the center flying geese
units and the seams of
the middle row away from the center. Sew rows together to finish the block and
press seams away from the center.
Your block should
measure 34-1/2" at this point. It will measure 34" when it is sewn into the
quilt.
