Sewing Instructions:
Step 1:
Layer a Color E (cream) 3-7/8" triangle on a Color C (tan) 3-7/8" triangle, right sides together. Stitch as shown below. Press the seam allowance toward the darker fabric and trim points. Make 4. (Each unit should measure 3-1/2".)

Step 2:
Sew a 2-7/8" Color B (pink) triangle to each short side of a 5-1/4" Color E (cream) triangle, as shown below. Trim points and press the seam allowance toward the darker fabric. Make 4. (Each unit should measure 2-1/2" x 4-1/2".)

Step 3:
Sew a 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" Color C (tan) rectangle to a Step 2 unit, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the Color C (tan) rectangle. Make 4. (Each unit should measure 4-1/2" x 4-1/2".)

Step 4: Arrange two Color A (red) 2-1/2" squares, a Color B (pink) 2-1/2" square, and a Color E (cream) 2-1/2" square, as shown below. Sew into rows and press seam allowances toward the Color A fabric. Sew the rows together to finish the four-patch unit. Press the seam allwance toward the top of the unit. Make 4. (Each unit should measure 4-1/2" x 4-1/2".)

Step 5: Arrange the Color B (pink) 4-1/2" square, the Step 3 units, and the Step 4 units, as shown below. Sew into rows and press the seam allowances for the top and bottom rows away from the center unit and press the seam allowance for the middle row toward the center unit. Make 1. (This unit should measure 6-1/2" x 6-1/2".)

Next, sew the rows together to complete the block center. Press the seam allowances away from the center. Make 1. (This unit should measure 12-1/2" x 12-1/2".)

Step 6: Stitch a Step 1 unit to the left and right ends of a Color D (green) 3-1/2" x 12-1/2" rectangle, as shown below. Press the seam allowances toward the Color D fabric.
(Each unit should measure 3-1/2" x 18-1/2".)

Step 7: Stitch a Color D (green) 3-1/2" x 12-1/2" rectangle to the left and right sides of the Step 5 unit. Press the seam allowances toward the Color D fabric.

Step 8: Stitch a Step 6 unit to the top and bottom of the block. Press the seam allowances away from the block center.

Your block should
measure 18-1/2" at this point. It will measure 18" when it is sewn into the
quilt.
