Sewing Instructions:
Step 1:
Layer a Color E (cream) 3-7/8" triangle on a Color C (tan) 3-7/8" triangle, right sides together. Stitch as shown below. Press the seam allowance toward the darker fabric and trim points. Make 4. (Each unit should measure 3-1/2".)

Step 2:
Layer a Color E (cream) 2-7/8" triangle on a Color C (tan) 2-7/8" triangle, right sides together. Stitch as shown below. Press the seam allowance toward the lighter fabric and trim points. Make 8. (Each unit should measure 2-1/2".)

Step 3:
Sew a 2-7/8" Color E (cream) triangle to the right end of a 5-1/4" Color C (tan) triangle as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the darker fabric and trim points. Repeat on the left end of the same triangle, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the darker fabric and trim points. Make 4. (Each unit should measure 2-1/2" x 4-1/2".)

Step 4: Stitch a Color A (red) 5-1/4" triangle to the left and right sides of a Color B
(pink) 4-1/2" square. Press the seam allowances toward the darker Color A fabric
and trim points. Next, stitch a Color A (red) 5-1/4" triangle to the top and
bottom of the same Color B (pink) square, as shown below. Press the seam
allowances toward the Color A (red) fabric and trim points. Make 1.

Step 5: Sew a 4-7/8" Color C (tan) triangle to the upper left and lower right of the Step 4 unit, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the Color C fabric and trim points. Repeat on the upper right and lower left of the same Step 4 unit, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the Color C fabric and trim points. Make 1. (This unit should measure 8-1/2" x 8-1/2".)

Step 6: Sew a Step 2 unit to the left and right ends of a Step 3 unit, as shown below. Press the seam allowance away from the Step 3 unit. Make 4. (This unit should measure 2-1/2" x 8-1/2")

Step 7: Sew a Color B (pink) 2-1/2" square to the left and right ends of a Step 6 unit. Press the seam allowances toward the Color B fabric. Make 2. (This unit should measure 2-1/2" x 12-1/2")

Step 8: Sew a Step 6 unit to the left and right sides of the Step 5 unit, as shown below. Press the seam allowances toward the Step 6 units. (The block will measure 8-1/2" x 12-1/2" at this time.)

Step 9: Sew a Step 7 unit to the top and bottom of the Step 8 unit, as shown below. Press the seam allowances toward the Step 7 units. (The block will measure 12-1/2" x 12-1/2" at this time.)

Step 10: Stitch a Step 1 unit to the left and right ends of a Color D (green) 3-1/2" x 12-1/2" rectangle, as shown below. Press the seam allowances toward the Color D fabric. (Each unit should measure 3-1/2" x 18-1/2".)

Step 11: Stitch a Color D (green) 3-1/2" x 12-1/2" rectangle to the left and right sides of the Step 9 unit. Press the seam allowances toward the Color D fabric.

Step 11: Stitch a Step 10 unit to the top and bottom of the block. Press the seam allowances away from the block center.

Your block should
measure 18-1/2" at this point. It will measure 18" when it is sewn into the
quilt.
