Sewing Instructions:

.)  Print 16 copies of the paper foundation pattern by clicking here.  Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print.

.) Following the piecing order and using the colors marked on the paper foundations, paper-piece 16 blocks.  Shorten your stitch length on your sewing machine to make paper removal easier.  Trim away excess fabric (fabric that extends beyond the seam allowance on the paper foundations).  Do not remove the paper foundations yet!

.)  Make four Twinkle Toes blocks as shown below:

.)  Arrange the four Twinkle Toes blocks according to the quilt image at the top of the page.  Using a 1/4" seam allowance, sew together to form rows and press seams on each row in opposite directions (Row 1 to the left, Row 2 to the right, etc.).  Sew rows together to form the center of the quilt and press seams in one direction.

.)  Carefully remove the paper from the back of each block.

.)  Inner Border:  Stitch the 1-1/2" x 24-1/2" black fabric strips to the left and right sides of the quilt.  Press seams toward the border fabric.  Stitch the 1-1/2" x 26-1/2" black fabric strips to the top and bottom of the quilt.  Press seams toward the border fabric.

.)  Outer Border:  Stitch the 3-1/2" x 26-1/2" dark gray print fabric strips to the left and right sides of the quilt.  Press seams toward the inner border fabric.  Stitch the 3-1/2" x 32-1/2" dark gray print fabric strips to the top and bottom of the quilt.  Press seams toward the inner border fabric.

.)  Layer the quilt top, batting, and lining.  Baste and quilt using your favorite method.  Trim the excess batting and lining fabric away and bind.
